Get to know BDTI and its potential

BDTI introduction video (12/10/2023):

In this video, we present the Big Data Test Infrastructure, the ready-to-use and free platform offered by the European Commission and funded by the Digital Europe Programme. BDTI helps public administrations develop and use (and reuse) data to achieve data-informed decision-making.

BDTI Value Demonstrator: Follow a fictional use case in Dublin (September 2023):

In this series of educational videos, we present a fictional use case that demonstrates how a public administration leveraged BDTI to address one of their issues: high energy spending. Each video outlines how a specific tool available through the BDTI offering was applied at each step to develop a solution for data-informed decision-making.

Step 1: Data ingestion using KNIME

Step 2: Data visualisation and analysis using Apache Superset

Step 3: Decision-making using Jupyter Notebook

Discover data analytics essentials

Data Essentials with BDTI - a self-paced course (February - March 2023):

Part 1: Data access and exploration

In this first session, we present the use case, introducing BDTI and one of our data analysis tools. You'll learn to download, load and access data in different formats.

Part 2: Data cleaning and transformation

In this second session, viewers learn how to clean data by addressing data quality issues with specific techniques for data cleaning and transformation.

Part 3: Data blending and storage

This third session outlines techniques for automating data blending and storage, identifying when multiple data files have the same structure (columns) and can be concatenated.

Part 4: Data analytics

In this fourth session, we begin the analytical process by addressing the core objectives and learning how to get insights from the data and build a report.

Part 5: Advanced data analytics

In the final session, viewers enhance data analysis capabilities by connecting to external data sources and learn how to tell the data's story, gathering additional geo data using APIs from the web and building more advanced data visualisation techniques using data visualisation tools from BDTI.

Meet the BDTI Skills Studio

Learn data analytics in these deep dive workshops following real-world use cases:

An introduction to geospatial analytics (04/09/2024):

This workshop introduces geospatial data, explains its relevance, and shows how to build interactive geospatial applications.

An introduction to statistics (11/09/2024):

In this workshop, we introduce the fundamentals of statistics and emphasise its necessity for data analysis.

An introduction to graph analytics (18/09/2024):

This workshop introduces key theoretical concepts about graphs, such as vertices, edges, degrees, and centrality. We illustrate concepts through a use case using tools currently offered in BTDI.

Dashboards for data visualisation: Analysing and presenting traffic accident insights (02/10/2024):

In this workshop, we explore the core principles of data visualisation, focusing on effectively analysing and presenting static geospatial data.

Communicating complex datasets: Integrating real-time data for urban insight (16/10/2024):

In this workshop, we explore the fundamentals of data visualisation, focusing on effectively communicating complex datasets.

Presenting BDTI

Live information sessions presenting the power of BDTI:

Data: From Hype to Action, service architecture and hands-on use case (10/05/2022):

This live webinar introduced BDTI, noting its status as an offshoot of the Digital Europe Programme.

An introduction to the Big Data Test Infrastructure webinar (03/03/2022):

The webinar showcases a pilot project conducted within BDTI.

Technical showcase webinar (24/06/2021):

This technical webinar showcases how BDTI services support the analysis and visualisation of data and models.
