Introducing Mage AI: A New Addition to the BDTI Tech Stack

The Big Data Test Infrastructure (BDTI) continues to expand its repertoire of tools designed to streamline and enhance data analysis and data-informed decision-making for European public administrations. Mage AI is the latest addition.

Mage AI is the latest addition to this robust infrastructure, a modern, open-source platform poised to transform how data pipelines are built, run, and managed.

Mage AI offers a contemporary alternative to traditional orchestration tools like Airflow, bringing efficiency and simplicity to the forefront of data operations. Developed with the user in mind, it enables the creation of data pipelines using popular languages such as Python, SQL, or R. Its design emphasises ease of use, rapid pipeline development and testing, and scalability that doesn't necessarily rely on a large, dedicated team.

One of the standout features of Mage AI is its flexibility in deployment across major cloud platforms. This ensures that integrating and scaling with Mage AI is seamless, regardless of the existing infrastructure. It also supports real-time and batch processing, which is crucial for organisations with varied data needs.

Operational management is another area where Mage AI shines. It provides interactive code previews and comprehensive observability tools that help maintain the efficiency and reliability of data processes. This level of oversight is essential in today's data-driven environments, where downtime or data inconsistencies can lead to significant setbacks.

For BDTI users, Mage AI's inclusion means they now have access to a tool that enhances their current data processing capabilities and allows them to experiment and innovate with fewer constraints. The tool is particularly useful for users looking to start new data projects or enhance existing ones.

Moreover, Mage AI supports a variety of libraries and add-ons that enhance its functionality, ranging from integration with big data frameworks like Spark to support for various data storage solutions and databases like MySQL and PostgreSQL, most of which are also available via the BDTI playground

As BDTI continues to evolve, integrating tools like Mage AI ensures that practitioners in public administrations are equipped with the best technology to tackle complex data challenges.
